Laptop screen replacement

A cracked screen is the most common laptop repair we do. In most cases only the panel needs replacing — the laptop itself is fine and well worth keeping.

We match the exact panel for your model (resolution, refresh rate, touch or non-touch) so it looks the way it did when it was new.

When to bring it in

  • Cracks, ink-blot marks or black patches
  • Vertical or horizontal lines
  • Flickering that changes when you move the lid
  • Very dim picture you can only see with a torch — usually a backlight or cable fault

What we do

  • Identify the exact panel part number for your model
  • Test with an external monitor to rule out a graphics fault
  • Replace the panel, and the display cable or hinges if they caused the damage
  • Check for dead pixels and backlight bleed before handback

How long: 1–3 working days for most models. Panels for less common models can take up to a week to arrive.

Prices

  • Standard HD / Full HD screen from £89
  • Touchscreen assembly from £149

Questions

Is it worth replacing a laptop screen?

Usually, yes. If the laptop is under about six years old and otherwise works, a new screen costs far less than a replacement laptop with the same specification.

Lines appeared without me dropping it. Is it the screen?

Not always. Lines can come from the display cable or the graphics chip. We plug in an external monitor first — if the picture is clean there, it’s the screen or cable.
